Just finished reading this last night and my *very personal* preferences away from level-based systems and d20 resolution gave me some misgivings but got DAM does this feel masterfully put together.
Unofficial Final Fantasy Roleplaying System
A downloadable game
This one's gonna need some explaining
Right off the bat: this product is and will remain forever free. It uses assets and trademarks belonging to Square Enix, with whom I am unaffiliated and whose permission I neither asked for nor received.
I'm also unaffiliated with the Returners, the ZODIAC FFRPG people, or Bruno Carvalho & Fast Forward RPG Publishing-- I'm sure their FFRPGs are all great, but this ain't them.

All that said, this project is a lot of work for a solo dev, and if you feel like supporting me, you can drop me a tip on ko-fi at: https://ko-fi.com/mattyd0432

Extremely Unofficial Final Fantasy Roleplaying System
This project started as a "Hmm this is probably a bad idea" and eventually turned into a "Yep this is an awful lot of work while I'm already busy", but then along came the Cease & Desist Jam. I started the jam after the suggestion from Chris B on twitter, and the idea stuck with me to dive back into this project and get it "finished".
The Current State of the Game: The game is in "open alpha" at the moment-- it's missing parts it needs to be fully playable (monsters, adventure and worldbuilding, etc.), but it's got enough there to show off what I'm going for.
As I said up top the game will be free forever. I can't legally profit off this thing so it'll be here until itch goes down or SE comes knocking.
Go protect some crystals or fight some gods or topple an empire or something.

Looks extremely good. Any idea when monsters will be added?
I looked over the pdf and wanted to give my thoughts. Hope you don't mind a video post on it.
I do see alot of potential in this and I look forward to how you'd develop it.
I agree re: spreads v singles and coloring
I personally prefer night mode style all the time but the only real problem page is the white-on-grey
I don’t know if this is an update since this video, but I did find where defense values are generated. They’re in the equipment section, I believe right before the armor lists. This is unintuitive and easy to miss, tho.
That's on me for missing that. My bad.
Updates are slow-going. I've had a fairly aggressive schedule with my KS project, MEGALOS, and a bunch of life junk going on that has slowed things down (moving to a new town, new job, Covid, etc.).
Originally I was hoping for a major update to this by July but *checks calendar* probably going to have to wait until after August. My plan is to include two new layouts of the book-- one just the "dark mode", one that's a lot closer to plaintext (white background w/ black lettering... will look similar to MEGALOS: NEW GAME, the free quickstart for MGLS found here).
The layout was definitely one of those "looked cool in my head but is hard to actually 'use' in practice" things.
Update should also include a limited bestiary (stats for ~40 monsters and a few bosses is the goal) and hopefully 2-3 more classes (goals are Dark Knight, Dragoon, and either Scholar or Summoner)
Damn, not only is this sick as hell, but it ACTUALLY looks like an official FF RPG. Absolutely in love with this.
Looks really good so far! Can't wait to see how this develops.
